SpillOver Website
SpillOver: Viral Risk Ranking is a publicly available, free to use website and tool that compares, contrasts and ranks viruses of animal-origin to determine the risk of spillover into humans.
User Account
Registration for a user account is optional on the SpillOver site. Registration is not required to view the Ranking Comparison or Rank Your Virus tool. Registration enables users to post comments on the discussion forum and submit viruses to be included in the SpillOver ranking database. Personal data provided at registration will be managed in accordance with our Privacy policy.
Rank Your Virus Tool
Data privacy
The SpillOver Rank Your Virus Tool runs privately in your computer browser. Any data you enter in the tool will not be accessible by the public or the SpillOver team, unless you register for an account and submit the data for integration into the SpillOver database at the end of the assessment.
Data submission
After submission of data to the SpillOver website, the SpillOver team will review your data for quality control purposes. Should the team believe that any adjustments to the submitted data are needed (due to omissions or other reasons), we will contact the submitter at the registered email address. Changes to submitted data will not be published on the site without prior approval of the submitter. By submitting data to SpillOver, the submitter agrees to make their data publicly available.
Data Downloads
A summary of the ranking comparison is publicly available to download as a csv. To access the download please proceed to the Ranking Comparison page and click the Download results button at the top of the page. If you would like access to more detailed data, please contact the SpillOver administrators at spillover@ucdavis.edu with an explanation for your request.
Data Validity
Data published on the site or in downloads will only be valid at the time point accessed. Data and ranking scores may change due to new data submissions and updates. Please refer to the SpillOver website for the most recent results.
Disclaimer
SpillOver uses and contains external data resources for which validation is beyond the control of the SpillOver team. Therefore, the SpillOver team claim no responsibility for inaccuracies contained in the SpillOver database arising from external resources. However, every effort is made to ensure data quality, and we encourage users to report errors on the discussion forum or via email at spillover@ucdavis.edu.
